Action Figures
Here are some custom Neo-Vintage figures, package, repackage, kit-bash etc.
Heletor
(Evil Henchman of Darkdream)
The first Heletor was made ouf of an Ebay purchase that arrived broken. I decided to have a little fun with it so I "stitched" it together and gave it a little paint job to boot. It is undoubtedly a freak of nature and that's what makes it so cool. Since then I've made other variations, each one topping that last .
Loyal Subjects MOTU Repackage
Since Loyal Subjects figures come in blind boxes, they don't display well unopened. In response to this, I decided to make a miniature card (front and back) and used the bubble from the 200x MOTU mini statues. My goal was essentially to give these a vintage package.
I wrapped up their legs in a bit of plastic and dropped their weapons in the baggy, also I made fake mini comics to display behind them much like the vintage figures did. For He-Man and Skeletor I went with the original 8-backs for a few reasons. Besides being original and memorable, it's also easier to make those because the back was almost identical. For Evil-Lyn I went with matching the original along with story and art. By the time I got to Evil-Lyn I was able to solve some printer related issues I faced on the first two. My process has since improved but they look great anyways.
SHREDDER / SPLINTER (TMNT MOTU-esque)
These are a couple of figures I made with their own vintage MOTU inspired packaging. Since I used a "Remco" figure for the base on Shredder, he wouldn't fit in a normal MOTU bubble, so I used a Primal Age bubble, cleaned it up with acetone. The Primal Age bubbles are awesome because you can open and close the package more easily than with other bubbles.
KRANG (TMNT MOT-esque)
I've made Krang a couple of times. Here are two versions I made. The Krang gets sculpted directly into the figure after drilling out an appropriate cavity. I liked to think that, since Krang is an interdimensional conqueror, he would have at some point tried to invade Eternia.
Custom Masters of the Universe-esque Ghost Rider
I made this custom out of a Rio Blast figure. I replicated dome parts with clay, like the Scareglow head, and added some fire to it. I also added the chain, and gave it a paint job to make it have a color scheme more in-line with Classic Ghost Rider depictions. The package was inspired clearly by MOTU, and I made a custom "faux" mini-comic so that it looks complete when packaged up.

Goat-Man Custom Neo-Vintage MOTU figure
When I discovered the possibility of kit-bashing my MOTUC figures with my vintage MOTU figures, I felt immense joy. I enjoyed matching fonts, crafting a tutorial on the back, the fake mini-comic, showcasing other custom figures, and even creating character art, including a back piece depicting a battle between Goat-Man and Fisto, reminiscent of the original 'Secret of the Dragon's Egg' story.
(mini-comic) Prince Adam Custom Neo-Vintage MOTU figure
This was a simple one I cranked out by putting on a painted vest from the MOTUC Prince Adam. The packaging was simply a recreation of the original with a color adjustment by changing his vest from pink to blue and removed the undershirt as he is depicted in in the mini-comic stories. For some added elegance, I did paint some details on the bracers. I get a good response from collectors whom are more keen towards the mini-comics rather than the Filmation cartoon.Born in 81, I am a Filmation kid, but I do appreciate all things MOTU.
Neo-Vintage Figures and Packaging
Here are a couple more I made; over the years I've made several, and several more which I don't have pictures of. I've made cardbacks for customizers and for characters such as Anti-Eternia He-Man, Ice Armor He-Man, Iron-Man, Wolverine, and more. I'll post them as I come across more designs and continue to add below.
Custom Secret Wars figure
Something about the simple design of the Secret Wars figures really stuck with me throughout the years. The only issue was that they didn't continue making the line. So, I took it upon myself to create a Secret Wars version of Cyclops. I utilized a '90s Toybiz Cyclops head, made some adjustments, and paired it with a Secret Wars body before painting it. To give the illusion of including the accessories, I added a fake cardboard shield with mockup lenticular inserts. I mocked up the rest of the package according to the vintage design as well. I used panels from Secret Wars comic books to craft a small comic strip on the back, reworking the text to fit. Throughout the process, my aim was to pay homage to the original designs as faithfully as possible.
